A False Balance

Proverbs 11:1-3 “A FALSE balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight. When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the is wisdom. The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them. ”

HUMILITY

lowly -to be humble, modest, submissive

Proverbs 16:11 “A just weight and balance are the LORD’s: all the weights of the bag are his work.”

"God is drawn to humility. Isaiah 57:15 “For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones." “Is there a situation you just don’t know how to handle? Maybe it’s an opportunity to humble yourself, admit your need, and rely on God’s help." -Nancy Leigh DeMoss

HONESTY

honest – genuine, approved, beautiful by reason of purity of heart and life, praiseworthy, morally good, excellent in its nature and characteristics

Luke 8:15 “But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.”

Job 2:3 “And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause.”

Job 31:6 “Let me be weighed “ in an even balance, that God may know mine integrity.”

“The integrity of an honest man will itself be his guide in the way of duty and the way of safety. His principles are fixed, his rule is certain, and therefore his way is plain; his sincerity keeps him steady, and he needs not tack about every time the wind turns, having no other end to drive at than to keep a good conscience.” –Matthew Henry

Humility and honesty go hand in hand. I imagine the scale or the pair of balances with humility on one side and honesty on the other. These elements will help me in all my relationships. My life will be "a false balance" when I think of myself too highly and when I am not honest with myself before God.

Romans 12:3 “For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.”

Philippians 2:4 “Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.”
