A Thirsty, Trusty Turn

Proverbs 1: 23 – "Turn you at my reproof: behold I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you."

"Return to your right mind, turn to God, turn to your duty, turn and live. Those that love simplicity find themselves under a moral impotency to change their own mind and way; they cannot turn by any power of their own." – Matthew Henry

We must help ourselves by seeking God and studying His Word. Wisdom is only for those who seek it diligently. I ask the Holy Spirit to lead me and to keep the counsels of God's Word before me this day. If I am truly thirsty for God to fill my life with Him, evidenced by my turning to Him, He has promised to fulfill that desire. I trust He keeps His promises. How terribly do I thirst for God? Enough to turn? Enough to trust? If my family and others would see the love of God through me, I must thirst for God. I must turn to God. I must trust Him to do the work in my heart.

“Ho, Every One That is Thirsty”

by Lucy J. Meyer (1884)

Ho! every one that is thirsty in spirit,

Ho! every one that is weary and sad;

Come to the fountain, there’s fullness in Jesus,

All that you’re longing for: come and be glad!

“I will pour water on him that is thirsty,

I will pour floods upon the dry ground;

Open your hearts for the gifts I am bringing;

While ye are seeking Me, I will be found.”

Child of the world, are you tired of your bondage?

Weary of earth joys, so false, so untrue?

Thirsting for God and His fullness of blessing?

List to the promise, a message for you.

Child of the kingdom, be filled with the Spirit!

Nothing but “fullness” thy longing can meet;

’Tis the enduement for life and for service;

Thine is the promise, so certain, so sweet.”
