Scripture Steps
Psalm 4:1 “Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.“
How can I be enlarged in distress? How can I grow through times of trouble?
Identify my points of distress and take them to God.
Remember Who God is – the Most High God, my Creator.
Pray. Ask the Lord to have mercy on me. I do not deserve any mercy. Ask the Lord to hear my prayer, and believe that He will answer me for my good and for His glory.
Psalm 18:36 “Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip.”
He enlarges our steps when we are in trouble that we will not slip. Common paths that we are used to walking have become “slippery.” The sweet Holy Spirit can guide each decision we must make about normal everyday life that we didn’t use to think about as of four weeks ago. Grocery shopping, schooling, church, etc…
II Samuel 22:37 “Thou hast enlarged my steps under me; so that my feet did not slip.”
Psalm 81:10 “ I am the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.”
When our trouble is enlarged, our prayers should be enlarged which leads to God filling our mouths wide!
Psalm 25:17 “The troubles of my heart are enlarged: O bring thou me out of my distresses.”
Plant Process
Psalm 119:32 “I will run the way of thy commandments, when thou shalt enlarge my heart.”
When I desire Him to, God grows me (enlarges my heart) during the dark times. When a seed is planted, the most important growth is unseen in the soil, forming deep roots. Only God sees underneath the surface of the soil. How often have I tried to “be” the beautiful Christian without watering my heart with His Word! When a plant flourishes above the soil, it is the fruit of what is growing underneath. Growth comes from feeding on the rich root system of His Word.
Fertilizer Friends
Additionally, how beautiful to have friend believers who come along and nourish with extra encouragement toward growth. Growth ultimately comes from our relationship with God, yet He gifts us with “fertilizers” of sorts in human friendships. Be the “Miracle Gro” kind of friend!
