Resurrection Sunday

In Christ Alone

“There in the ground His body lay

Light of the world, by darkness slain.

Then bursting forth in glorious day

Up from the grave He rose again!”

These Dogwood blossoms which return each spring in East Tennessee are beautiful reminders of the new life made possible only by the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

To me, Resurrection Sunday is the greatest day of celebration for the believer.

His death on the cross of Calvary covered the penalty I deserve for my sins - to be separated eternally from God - in a place where God is not - a place of torment. He chose to pay my ransom, and rescued me from the fire of Hell.

Why? Because of love, Jesus Christ fulfilled His Father’s will which gives life to the spiritually dead. When His gift of salvation is received, the Holy Spirit dwells within us guiding and comforting us while on this human journey, never again to live without God - ever!

“Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.” - John 11:25-27 KJV
