Settling Words

God’s words are not sure because a man says they are: God’s words were settled in Heaven before He created the world.

Though generations change culturally or geographically, God’s faithfulness changes not. I can rest in the immutable love of God - not only for my life, but for the lives of my children and their children and their children! This brings me comfort in the goodbyes and in the changing seasons of my life.

The earth that God established reminds me of His faithfulness. The same sun, moon, and stars rhythmically are revealed -not only where I am, but wherever my children and grandchildren are.

God’s words are settling words to my soul because they are settled in Heaven.

Meditating on truth about my God grounds my emotions stirred by the cycles of life…

- the holding close while letting go

- the joy of presence with the grief of parting

- the certainty with the unknown

- the helpful hands-on times with the helpless out-of-reach times

- the comforts of home with the hardness of a journey

- the answers to prayer with the impossible requests

- the desire to bless with the limitations of time and resources

- the surety of God’s call with the selfishness of the human heart

The feelings then funnel into truth:

• God is God.

• God is true.

• God is faithful.

• God is always only good.

• God can always be trusted.

• God is worthy of every precious gift.
