Worthy of the Miles

Our son and his wife are en route to their life and ministry in Togo! Their return visit back to the states is estimated to be in 2-3 years. It’s hard to fully comprehend the length of this time apart as we’ve just enjoyed sweet and busy days working together preparing for our daughter's wedding.

As they finished checking their bags and entered the security checkpoint, I watched them as long as I could see them while my husband went to get our vehicle to pick me up. I had a moment alone with God in the midst of innumerable people buzzing around all about me.

Knowing God is sovereign and faithful, His character cannot be questioned, and His ways are much higher than ours.

As the tears began to trickle, the question was with my own heart - not with God. Why so far away, Lord? The answer of assurance came in those short minutes: He is worthy!

He is worthy of my all. He is worthy of all the gifts which are all from His own hand - even of my children living across the ocean. He is worthy of the miles. He is worthy of my trust.

As I rest my head on my pillow tonight while these two are in the air… while our other children are in five different states… my body is worn, and my heart is at peace.
