Writing and songwriting have been in my heart since I was young. Several years ago, Morning Joy Compositions (unnamed) was planted in my heart. After much thought and prayer, I decided on this name to encapsulate the gifts with which God created me individually. Being fascinated with words and meanings, I began with the initials of my husband Matt and my name Jeri Lynn. So I had "MJ" to start with.
I remember sitting on my lovely swing on our wrap-around porch of our Kansas farmhouse pondering many things. I was surrounded by the most beautiful flower beds of perennials God had previously prepared for me.
It is here that capturing pictures of beautiful God's creation became a part of life. Somehow, my eye can usually see a tiny dot of a colored flower petal in a mesh of weeds. Simple joys are from the hand of a big God!
At this time in my life, I was met with grief that I wasn't cognizant that I was experiencing deeply within. If I couldn't even understand it, how could anyone else? All I knew was I had the Lord. He gave me the verse that confirmed life is not without weeping, but also that joy will come in the morning.
"For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning." ~Psalm 30:5
Life itself is composed of joy and grief, good and evil, bright days and dark nights.
God created us in His image, and uniquely designed each of us with our own compositions of personalities, strengths, weaknesses, gifts, and abilities.
I pray that the compositions of my life will glorify God my Maker and encourage people to know His Son and my Savior Jesus Christ. .
This would all mix together: name initials, joy in the morning, and compositions of words and music and pictures to form Morning Joy Compositions.
Morning Joy Compositions is the name of my music publishing company, and I write the words at Morning Joy Life (blog.)
Our first publishing project is a vocal album with my daughters ~ The Wilkerson Sisters. The title song "In the Morning" was written at our Kansas farmhouse as well.
