Perfectly Loved

"Daughter, Remember: I love you!"
A Faithful Father's Promise ~ A Daughter Perfectly Loved

After a long day of ministry and my "love tank" running low, I walked outside to go to my vehicle on a Sunday evening. It was as if God had plastered across the sky, "DAUGHTER, REMEMBER: I LOVE YOU!!!!!" I caught myself smiling as I realized my Abba Father knew what my heart needed! With all the colors of the rainbow, God made this promise reminder in the days of Noah, and He is still faithfully keeping His promises! Maybe, God painted it for someone else to see as well, but I KNOW it was for me! It wasn't a little "post-it-note" rainbow, it was an "entire book" rainbow - it was wholly visible from side-to-side! It caused me to think about "love" and an admonition I'd heard earlier in the week to the effect of "QUIT WAITING TO BE LOVED; YOU ALREADY ARE!"

Have you ever heard someone express any of the following thoughts about love? Or perhaps you have had some of these thoughts yourself.

"I wish I had been loved."

"I’m waiting to be loved."

"I’m wondering if I ever will be loved."

"I worry that I am not worthy of love."

"I loved well, but I was not well-loved."

Feelings of longing, loneliness, and loss develop into thoughts that arise in any relationship we have or do not have on earth. These thoughts spur on actions of our hearts.

We wish.

We wait.

We wonder.

We worry.

We ask "Why?"

The enemy would delight to have us paralyzed with rumination of such ponderings. While our individual thoughts and questions are rooted in a large gamut of different experiences, the solutions of peace are found in the same source - God's truth.

Every human being was created in love - by Love - to love - and to be loved. Our Creator God is love. The following Scriptures answer some of our questions about love.

“The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.” - Jeremiah 31:3

I challenge you to speak these truths derived from this Scripture to yourself:

  • I have been loved before the world began.

Though incomprehensible to the human mind, God loved me before I was conceived by my earthly father and mother and before I took my first breath on earth. Before I became God's daughter when I believed Him and accepted His gift of salvation for my soul, He loved me.

“And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.”— 1 John 4:16 (KJV)

“According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love.”— Ephesians 1:4 (KJV)

  • I am already so loved by the One Who created me.

Just as I prize the creations made with my own hands, God delights in His creation of me. How comforting to think about all the unique qualities He crafted in me through abilities, appearance, or personality, etc... Purposefully, He chose how to fashion me while I was in my mother's womb. Though others may dislike my features, He loves how He made me.

“I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.”— Psalm 139:14 (KJV)

“But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.”— Isaiah 43:1 (KJV)

"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." Ephesians 2:10 (KJV)

  • I am loved with an everlasting love - forever.

Human love is sometimes transient, conditional, and intermittent. God's love never changes; it neither lessens with my failure nor grows with my performance. There is nothing I can do, and nothing anyone else can do to change God's love for me.

His love is deep, steady, true, and infinite.

“The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.”— Jeremiah 31:3 (KJV)

"The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms:" - Deuteronomy 33:27a (KJV)

“For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the Lord that hath mercy on thee.”— Isaiah 54:10 (KJV)

  • Because God first loved me, I can love.

Love begins with God. Knowing God is love and having His love in me, I can extend His love experienced in my life to the lives of others. When people do not love us well, let us consider that they probably do not understand the love of God themselves. Remembering this will help me be more gracious and compassionate in my responses as Christ is with me.

“We love him, because he first loved us.”— 1 John 4:19 (KJV)

“Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.”— 1 John 4:11 (KJV)

  • Because He loves me, I am worthy of love.

No higher Love than God Himself can speak to my worth, for He is the Creator of life and love. The Most High God gave His perfect Son as the propitiation for my sin that I might also be His child - a joint heir with Jesus Christ, His Son. If the God of Heaven loves me, then I need not question whether I am lovable. His love makes me valuable and secures my identity as His daughter. God wants me and welcomes me because He delights in His children.

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”— Romans 5:8 (KJV)

“Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God.”— 1 John 3:1 (KJV)

  • I am perfectly loved.

Though I am imperfect, I am loved by my perfect Heavenly Father. I am forever His daughter, and I do not have to continually try to do things to get Him to stay my Father. Since I was born into His family when I believed and was saved, my new birth cannot be undone. As Scripture says in Matthew 10:28, "And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand." I can rest in His love which never fails to demonstrate a deep interest in my life, working all things for my good and for His glory. There is no selfishness, no guile, no betrayal, no taint in His pure love.

“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.”— 1 John 4:18 (KJV)

“And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.”— Ephesians 3:19 (KJV)

Our God is relational! He loves us as our Abba, Father just as He loves His Son, Jesus Christ. He also loves us as our Heavenly Bridegroom! God knows us, pursues us, cherishes us, and perfectly loves us!

"For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father." - Romans 8:15 (KJV)

We don't need to wait to be loved.

We already are... perfectly loved!
