Just a Little Hope

As I waited at a red light, I noticed these sweet little purple flowers growing amongst the weeds on the roadside. They are not exotic or bright. No one was stopping to pose by them as they will soon do when the Bluebonnets soon make their show here in Texas! Many recent days have been cloudy and gloomy, wet and cold. Just the glimpse of Spring on its way gave me a taste of hope that winter will pass, and spring will come to stay for a little while. I had to stop and look, or I would not have breathed in that hopeful air.

When life brings a season of continued clouds, take time to look for the little blooms of hope. Hope doesn't always come in big and bright hues. Usually, when we need it the most, just a tiny thread of it will keep us going. Stop and find a verse in God's Word that speaks to you. Take a mental picture of it, and stop to look at it often until hope grows.

A favorite verse of mine is Romans 15:13. "Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost." It is only through the power of God – the Holy Spirit within us – that we have hope. He is the God of hope! Just a little hope in a big God will strengthen our faith!
